Loryn Brazier
Biography
A native of Northern Virginia, Loryn Brazier moved to Richmond to attend
Virginia Commonwealth University and has lived in the area ever since.
She worked as an illustrator, art director, and advertising agency owner.
In l985, she spent a year traveling and painting in Europe and made the
switch from advertising and commercial illustration to painting.
She studied under the master painter, and portrait artist Everett Raymond
Kinstler. From the years she spent
in the fast-paced world of advertising, Loryn learned to paint very quickly.
This makes her style well-suited to plein air artistry.
Loryn Brazier’s
paintings and portraits are included in the permanent collections of the
Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery; federal and state courtrooms; corporate,
governmental, financial and religious institutions; universities and private
homes all over the country. Her
work has been published in the following books:
The Best of Oil Painting, (1996),
Portrait Inspirations, (1998), and The
Best of Portrait Painting, (l998). Recent
articles about her work have appeared in October/November, 2002, issue of International Artist magazine, and in the August, 2000, issue of American
Artist magazine.
Loryn is a signature
member of Alla Prima International; a member of the historic National Arts Club
in New York, the Portrait Society of America, Inc., the American Artist
Professional League, and Plein Air Painters of the Southeast; and an associate
member of Oil Painters of America.
Currently,
Loryn and her husband, Doug, are the owners of a mid-town Richmond Gallery,
Brazier Fine Art, which opened in l995. Her
studio is located within the gallery.
